wow - perfect fit IMO

Quote

The Minnesota Vikings could have one high-profile backup running back.

LaDainian Tomlinson
Tomlinson

LaDainian Tomlinson is going to visit the team on Thursday, a source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. SI.com first reported the visit.

Tomlinson was released by the San Diego Chargers last week and has scheduled a number of visits with potential teams.

Tomlinson ranks eighth on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 12,490 yards. His 138 career rushing touchdowns rank second, and his 153 total touchdowns rank third.

Tomlinson, who turned 30 last summer, was injured early in the 2009 season and finished with 730 yards on 223 carries for an average of 3.3 yards per carry, all career lows. He became less and less the face of the Chargers as his role was reduced in a pass-happy offense.

He wouldn't be the face of the Vikings either, however, with Adrian Peterson making the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons in the league. But the Vikings did lose free agent Chester Taylor to the Chicago Bears this offseason, creating a lack of depth in the backfield.

The Vikings do not yet know if quarterback Brett Favre will return to the team that went 12-4 and lost to eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans in the second round of the playoffs.

Tomlinson has said that his priority now is to win a title, something he didn't do in San Diego.

"This is not the end of the road at all," he said last week. "I'm not retiring. So I am very excited. I really believe I am going to have that opportunity to win a championship."

Yeah I think this would be a good fit for the Vikings and LT. LT wouldnt have so much weight on his shoulders like he did in san diego. Also this may persuade Brett Favre to come back soon the later because we all know Brett is coming back with how close he got last year.

What does that mean? What do you think there is going to be a problem with AP and LT?

Why not sign back Chester Taylor? What's LT gonna do, that he couldn't have done? Get his extra special 3 yard runs up the middle. This move makes little sense if it goes through - LT is done and that's that.

Well they cant sign back Chester Taylor because the Bears signed him. So LT is a good running back that could help alot and mentor AP on some of his playing problems such as fumbling. So I think this could be a very good fit for the Vikes.

Idk how he's going to fit but as long as he doesn't fumble the ball as much as AP then they should be happy lol

I know the Bears signed Chester. I'm saying, if you are gonna even mess around with LT, at least try and push hard for Chester back. I understand the position of a mentor, but LT is still gonna want his cash. I don't understand how it will be a very good fit... It's not a smash-and-dash combo or anything. It's a very young RB, with some issues, about to enter his prime. And then a workhorse, who has very little tread left on his tires. I don't know.

Vikes wanted Taylor back, but Taylor was told he would be given chance to win starting spot in Chicago. He won't get that chance in Minny.

LT is a great receiver, too. So, he could provide more pop on 3rd downs.

And not high on LT??? before Norm, he was a STUD

J's right, he has no problem catching the ball. Right now he would be a nice fit for the team, play 3 downs and he can help AP with his fumble issues. Plus this may help Brett come back sooner.

If Favre comes back and they do sign LT, this would make them a lot scarier IMO. That's a pretty nasty 1-2 punch.

i dont believe he will go to the vikings. i think the saints would be a better fit for LT. a limited role and re-uniting with drew brees would be good for LT. cant really see him anywhere else.

The Saints don't make sense? They have at least 3 capable Running Backs in Bell, Bush and Thomas. No way.
